The author reflects on the complex relationships between different sex hormones and QTc electrocardiogram (ECG) duration in patients with Torsade de Pointes (TdP) ventricular polymorphic arrhythmia. Other topics include the effects of estradiol, testosterone and progesterone on QTc, the study on the systemic effects of progesterone on cardiac electrophysiology, and the effectiveness of progesterone pretreatment in reducing incidence of drug-induced TdP arrhythmias, trigeminy, and bigeminy.
