    • Abstract:
This article presents information on the book "Firecrackers," by Carl Van Vechten. It is first of all necessary to insist that Van Vechten is quite right in calling "Firecrackers" a realistic novel. The thing is realistic to its own purpose, which is to present the idle rich seeking for more lotuses to devour in the ordered dullness of their routine boredom. Bright figures come trooping in from "Peter Whiffle" and "The Tattoed Countess" and go on talking to one another in the now unmistakable Van Vechten manner.
