    • Abstract:
This article argues that the technology of U.S. firm Apple Computer is not just a credible choice for corporate information technology but it is also the most cost-effective and best performing option as of June 2004. Reporters and analysts are not the only ones to blame for lack of information technology-related coverage of Apple Computer. 1 Infinity Loop, the company's Cupertino, California headquarter, could also take the blame for it. Like its pretentious address, Apple's haughty attitude simply annoys people. In other matters, with the Xserve, Apple is delivering one of the most powerful, low-cost, easy-to-manage Unix servers on the market. Combined with Apple Computer's no-client licensing fees, easy-to-run Xserves would have been the best performing, lowest-TCO machines in a data center. Certainly, the information technology media's indifference to Apple Computer has hurt the company's standing with chief information officers. But Apple Computer's obsession with secrecy has diminished it and information technology options even more.
