    • Abstract:
In this article the author presents his views on a book entitled, "Rebels of Art. Manet to Matisse." The book is written by George Slocombe. According to the author any classification of artistic rebels, involving the inclusion of certain painters and the omission of others, must necessarily be somewhat arbitrary. The artists discussed in this book were all rebels, but their revolts differed in kind as well as in degree. The specific contributions of the individual painters, the differences between them as well as the similarities which bind them together, are clearly and simply presented.
