      The article presents a study designed to validate whether Facial Action Coding System (FACS) is capable of assessing actor quality through facial expression coding. Topics include biological bases of emotions; stimuli and emotion depicting scenes; and coding of actors' maintenance of facial expressions. It mentions that the study links emotional facial expression research with media entertainment theories to focus attention on an important but understudied variable.
