- Alternate Title: PSYCHOLOGICAL RESOURCES OF POSITIVE AGING. (English)
- Abstract: This study has four parts. In the first part of the study the career of successful aging construct has been presented through the literature of gerontology from Cicero until nowadays while highlighting the problems that were until now hindering the validation of that scientific construct. Suggestions for kin concepts instead of successful aging (e.g. active, optimal, vital, effective aging) have been reviewed in detail. The second part of the paper presents the results of longitudinal and cross sectional empirical studies about influencing factors of successful aging. The third part refers to the research outcomes of ageing people by the positive psychology and suggests the definition of positive aging as a state of good biological, psychological, social and spiritual functions which coincides with above average levels of psychological immunity and coping capacity and abilities of inventing successful strategies in the day-to-day practices. The fourth part of the paper describes an empirical study with 7, 5 0 6 participants and demonstrates how the (emotional, psychological, social, spiritual) components of well being contribute to the maintaining of old-age physical and mental health further the psychological immunity, savoring capacity, positive orientation and flourishing. While comparing the flourishing levels of specific age groups there was a clear decline of individuals above 65 years with weakening psychological immunity. The study defines positive aging as the ability to maintain flourishing under fire of ageing associated challenges. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
- Abstract: A tanulmány négy részre tagolódik. Az első rész a sikeres öregedés fogalmának a karrierjét mutatja be a pszichológiai nézőpontot előtérbe helyező gerontológiai irodalomban (Cicerótól napjainkig) és rávilágít azokra a problémákra, amelyek miatt a mai napig nem sikerült igazolni ennek a tudományos konstruktumnak az érvényességét. Ismerteti a sikeres öregedés fogalmával rokon felvetéseket (aktív, egészséges, optimális, vitális, hatékony). A második rész bemutatja a keresztmetszeti és a longitudinális empirikus vizsgálatokból származó eredményeket a sikeres öregedést befolyásoló tényezőkről. A harmadik rész a pozitív pszichológia keretében az idős személyek körében végzett kutatási eredményeket ismerteti, és javaslatot tesz a pozitív öregedésnek mint állapotnak a meghatározására. A javaslat szerint a pozitív öregedés a j ó biológiai (testi), pszichológiai, szociális és spirituális működéssel jellemezhető állapot, és együtt jár a pszichológiai immunitás és a megküzdési kapacitás átlagon felüli szintjével, valamint a pozitív élményállapotok fenntartását garantáló, az élet praktikáiban eredményes helytállást szavatoló stratégiák hatékony alkalmazására való képességgel. A negyedik rész egy empirikus, 7506 fő részvételével végzett vizsgálat eredményeit ismerteti, és bemutatja, hogy az időskori testi és lelki egészség fenntartásához milyen mértékben járulnak hozzá a jóllét komponensei (érzelmi, szociális, pszichológiai, spirituális), a pszichológiai immunitás, a pozitív orientáció és a virágzás. A különböző korcsoportok virágzásszintjének összehasonlítása azt mutatja, hogy 65 év után erősen csökken a virágzás azoknál a személyeknél, akiknek gyengül a pszichológiai immunkapacitása. A tanulmány a pozitív öregedés folyamatát úgy definiálja, mint a virágzás fenntartásának képessége a korral együtt járó kihívás pergőtüzében „flourishing under fire". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
