- Abstract:
The article looks at theoretical physics, suggesting that the major ideas hypothesized since the 1980s, such as supersymmetry and string theory, have not yet turned out to be verifiable or productive. Topics include the verification of general relativity and quantum mechanics over the course of the 20th century, the detection of the Higgs boson by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and the standard models of particle physics and of cosmology. Comments are presented from physicists at the Perimeter Institute, Waterloo, Ontario.
