- Abstract:
When the United Nations assembled at San Francisco in California during the week of June 20-26, 1955 to celebrate its tenth anniversary, the big story, in a sense, was that there was no story. Many concluded that the week of formal speeches represented nothing, but oratory. The most important aspect of the meeting was the repeated display of unity by the more than fifty non-atomic nations. There was an almost unanimous voice among the smaller nations demanding action on the whole cold war problem and particularly on disarmament.
