KONCEPTUALNA METAFORA U KRATKIM PRIČAMA ALEKSANDRA HEMONA. (Croatian)

CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR IN SHORT STORIES OF ALEXANDAR HEMON. (English)

This paper examines metaphorical expressions and their conceptual metaphors, found in Alexandar Hemon's short stories. The corpus of this paper is two stories: The Lives of Others and The Kauders Case. The stories are taken from The Book of My Lives both in the Bosnian and English language. The stories used for the corpus of this paper were first written in English and that is why the research will start from the English language corpus. The Bosnian language translation was written by Irena Žolf and her translation is used for the Bosnian language corpus of this paper. The main goal of the paper is to show what happened when metaphorical expressions of one language came into the other on the conceptual metaphor level. In this paper the quality of the translation, translation procedures and translation strategies are not researched. It is hypothesised that most of the metaphorical expressions remained equal after they came into the other language as evidenced by the results in the conclusion. Naturally, conceptualization of certain concepts can differ (more, less or completely) among languages, however, another hypothesis is that there is a similarity in conceptualization for abstract concepts between mentioned languages. For the identification of metaphorical expressions MIPVU is used, that is adjusted Metaphor Identification Method Vrije Universiteit. U radu se istražuju metaforični izrazi i njihove konceptualne metafore koje se koriste u kratkim pričama Aleksandra Hemona. Korpus rada su dvije priče: “Životi drugih" (The Lives of Others) i “Slučaj Kauders" (The Kauders Case). Priče su uzete iz Knjiga mojih života (The Book of My Lives) na b/h/s i engleskom jeziku. Priče koje su korištene za korpus ovog rada prvo su nastale na engleskom jeziku i zbog toga će istraživanje kretati od korpusa za engleski jezik. Na b/h/s jezik prevela ih je Irena Žolf i njen prijevod se koristi za b/h/s korpus ovog rada. Glavni cilj rada je prikazati šta se dogodilo kada su metaforični izrazi iz jednog jezika došli u drugi jezik na nivou konceptualnih metafora. U radu se ne istražuje kvalitet prijevoda, prevodilački postupci ili prevodilačke strategije. Pretpostavljeno je da je većina metaforičnih izraza ostala metaforična nakon prelaska u drugi jezik, o čemu svjedoče rezultati u zaključku. Naravno, konceptualizacija određenih pojmova se može razlikovati (više, manje ili u potpunosti) između jezika, međutim, druga pretpostavka jeste da se pojavljuje sličnost između pomenutih jezika u konceptualizaciji za apstraktne pojmove. Za identifikaciju metaforičnih izraza koristi se prilagođena MIPVU, odnosno prilagođena metoda identifikacije metafore Univerziteta Vrije (Metaphor Identification Method Vrije Universiteit).
