    • Abstract:
This article discusses the books "Reapers of the Storm," by Elizabeth Lyttleton and Herbert Sturz and "South From Granada." by Gerald Brenan. No human being could remain rational with so little joy in him as the authors of "Reapers of the Storm" saw in their friends. Brenan is writing of his life in Yegen twenty years ago, just before the Civil War, but if his village has changed in twenty years, there are hundreds that haven't. Life was indeed real, and sometimes earnest, but the path often led--as on Midsummer Day--to the mountainside to look for wild cherries, as was the custom with lovers.
