    • Abstract:
The article presents information on several recent developments in the U.S. It reports on an incident in which two policemen were killed by two black youths in New York City. In such tragic circumstances, normal emotion rises toward hysteria, and often oversteps the boundary. The root cause of these type of murders is the prevalence of handguns in a country as prone to violence as is the United States. Affidavits filed in the misbegotten Harrisburg conspiracy prosecution make it clear that the case had its genesis in J. Edgar Hoover's appearance before a U.S. Congressional appropriations subcommittee in November 1970. Before he was even sworn in as a witness, he had distributed seventy-five mimeographed copies of his testimony.
