    • Abstract:
A cover story is presented that explores how social information impacts the migration of animals. Particular focus is given to the purpose of migration: allowing animals to take advantage of better conditions for life in different places throughout the year. Additional topics discussed include how migratory animals often have greater numbers because of the better nutrition they have access to, how human barriers to migration have impacted the health of animals, and the behavior of migrating animals including reindeer and bighorn ewe.
