The article highlights some efforts of the U.S. government to reduce price and increase competitiveness of generic pharmaceutical drugs, as of July 2018. Topics discussed include ways like, extending patents and exclusivity by branded drug manufacturers, has resulted in the price increase; insufficient action by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to reduce the prices; and views of Erin Fox, senior director of drug information, University of Utah Health, on the issue.
