- Abstract:
The article discusses a German government report dating between 1928 and 1932 entitled "Die Entstehung von Kriegslegenden Festellungen über die englische Heldentat des amerikanischen Sergeanten York am 8.10.18 (“The Origin of War Legends: An Investigation of the Alleged Feat of Sergeant York, October 8, 1918)" regarding the veracity of the account of World War I Medal of Honor winner Alvin C. York, notable for his actions at the Battle of Argonne. The report is believed to have been authored by military historian Otto Korfes with aid from U.S. Army historian Carl H. Müller. A copy of the report was delivered to the U.S. War College and translated into English.
