    • Abstract:
This article focuses on the significance of promoting library technology. The 802.11 wireless-fidelity (Wi-Fi) connections of Kitsap Regional Library System became significant for The Sun, the local newspaper at Bremerton, Washington during a power outage. It made it possible for the publishing to circulate the newspaper in schedule. In return, the editors of The Sun had helped the library with a grant of $5,000 from the Scripps newspaper group. The money helped fund the library's summer reading program. Kitsap and King County are the only two libraries in the state offering Wi-Fi. Another result of promoting library technology involves Carol Schuyler, who was honored with the Central Kitsap Parent, Teacher, Student Association Council's Outstanding Service Award. Each year in the fall, she visits every single 10th grade English class in the district to demonstrate the online databases that are provided to the public. She shows ProQuest, Electric Library, InfoTrac and others. In the process, she manages to get every children a library card so that they can use their own number to get past the remote patron authentication software. As of 2004, the library's Wi-Fi service is just about the only completely free Wi-Fi, though that may change.
