    • Abstract:
Sure enough, back in the United States, fellow CBS correspondent Roberta Baskin switched on her TV a few days before the Olympiad's opening ceremonies and found Nike Inc. "swooshes" everywhere. It was a bitter sight to Baskin, CBS's top consumer reporter, who had produced a hard-hitting expose in 1996 on labor abuses at factories Nike uses in Vietnam to produce shoes. Baskin's original Nike story had upset some of the network brass, who were all too aware of the millions in ad revenue represented by the Nagano Olympics.
