    • Abstract:
The starting point for this paper was represented by the current national legislation in the field of heritage protection, especially the way in which some of the assets that are part of the natural heritage are transformed in cultural assets when they become part of a museum's collection. Another aspect discussed in the paper is represented by the difficulty that occurs for museums that have a natural science specific when applying the criteria for classifying assets in the legal categories of the national mobile cultural heritage. We try to highlight the importance of introducing some changes in the legislation, modifications that would allow a proper classification of all the assets belonging to the national heritage and that would allow natural assets to keep their natural specific even if they are part of a museum's collection.
