NEW AND ANNOUNCEMENTS.

U.S. Government Grants, awarded under the Fullbright-Hays Act, for university lecturing and advanced research, are available for Latin America. The American Association for the Advancement of Science offers an annual prize of $1,000 for a meritorious essay in socio-psychological inquiry. The prize is offered to encourage studies and analyses of social behavior based on explicitly stated assumptions or postulates which lead to conclusions or deductions that are verifiable by systematic empirical research. The Esso Education Foundation has announced a new program for higher education, "Support for Promoting the Utilization of Resources." It is designed to provide incentives for improving the use of present resources for college and university undergraduate work. The Foundation is prepared to spend one million dollars on the program over the next few years. University of Rhode Island appointed Harold Mark, formerly of the State University of Iowa, as instructor.
