- Abstract: The article presents a brief history of the teenager which represents the period that links childhood and adulthood. The term "teen-ager" was introduced in the early 1900s but failed to attract popular press coverage, even until World War II. Several factors that contributed to a renewed interest in teenagers are also discussed, including the rise of compulsory education, the economic boom after World War II, and the invention of the car.
