The article discusses the American historian Donna R. Gabaccia's scholarship on the history of mobility, immigration to the U.S. from a global perspective and transnationalism. An overview of Gabaccia's work on the history of Italian immigrants to the U.S. is provided. The interdisciplinary approach of Gabaccia to migrant history writing is discussed.
