- Abstract: Recent studies have proposed a paradigm shift in the interpretation of Autism Spectrum Disorders prompting a reflection on educational intervention models that are conceptually different from traditional approaches. These studies, in particular, lead autism back to a singular perception of the world and this would mean relating to the world in an atypical way. Starting from this hypothesis, the symptomatic interpretation, in terms of social deficit, gives way to an interpretation of the symptom, according to which the origin of the communication and social interaction deficits lies in an atypical organization of the stimuli of the five senses. Therefore, understanding a "sensory disorder" as a core symptom of autism requires a change in paradigm in the educational and didactic sphere. This position paper aims to present an arguable opinion supported by authoritative evidence in the academic field about this issue. The objective of the paper is that of creating awareness on our "position" which can be considered reasonably valid and worth listening to. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
- Abstract: Studi recenti propongono un cambio di paradigma nell'interpretazione dei Disturbi dello Spettro Autistico, inducendo a riflettere su modalità di intervento rieducativo concettualmente diverse dagli approcci tradizionali. Tali studi riconducono l'autismo ad una singolare percezione del mondo e ciò comporterebbe un modo atipico di rapportarsi ad esso. A partire da tale ipotesi, la lettura sintomatologica, in termini di deficit sociale, cede il passo ad un'interpretazione del sintomo, secondo la quale l'origine del deficit di comunicazione e di interazione sociale risiederebbe in una atipica organizzazione degli stimoli nei cinque sensi. La comprensione che nell'autismo il "disturbo sensoriale" rappresenta un sintomo nucleare impone, quindi, un cambio di paradigma anche in sede educativa e didattica. L'obiettivo dell'articolo è quello di creare consapevolezza sulla nostra "posizione" che può essere considerata ragionevolmente valida e degna di essere ascoltata. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
