- Abstract:
The article discusses efforts of the Special Species Protection Unit (SSPU) of the Savé Valley Conservancy in Zimbabwe against rhino poaching in the region. Topics explored include the dehorning of rhinoceroses for the protection of these animals, the monitoring of rhinoceroses in the conservancy by military-trained men of the SSPU, and the use of high-powered hunting rifles, sedatives, and poison by poachers.
