    • Abstract:
Herzberg's 2-factor theory appears to offer promising leads to new research on work motivation. One of the main problems in following these leads is that the measurement of the work factors must be accomplished through interviewers. The purpose of this study was to develop psychometric measures of these work factors through the method of factor analysis. A questionnaire was developed based upon Herzberg's classification scheme. Engineers served as Ss. The results show that the dimensions proposed by Herzberg when represented as items and rated by Ss do not result in homogeneous groupings in the factor-analytic sense.
