Historical Imagery of Desert Kites in Eastern Jordan.

The article focuses on the history of desert kites imagery in Eastern Jordan. It is noted that since they were first brought to the West's attention by Royal Air Force pilots flying Baghdad-Cairo mail routes, these desert kites have fascinated archaeologists and aviators for almost a century. Various theories concerning the function of desert kites put forth by early pilots and later archaeologists are also explained.
