Local Abstract: [PIP] Although reproductive health care has traditionally focused upon reproduction, individuals at all stages of life have reproductive health concerns which do not directly relate to reproduction. Understanding what these concerns may be and the difficulties clients and providers may have discussing them can help providers become more comfortable when talking with clients and better able to meet their needs. Sexual and reproductive health concerns begin before puberty and extend well beyond the childbearing years. Clients need services related to the reproductive system, sexual health, and sexuality, and have concerns which usually change over the course of their lives. Specific issues tend to be raised by clients at various stages of their life cycles. Although both clients and providers may feel awkward discussing sex and sexuality, such inhibitions can be overcome and lead to the better provision of client care.
