Local Abstract: [PIP] "The number of persons aged 65 years or over [in the Netherlands] will double until 2040. The impact of ageing can be reduced if labour force participation rates increase. In a scenario assuming high economic growth, the labour force can be expected to increase nearly as much as the number of elderly persons until 2010. After 2010 the increase of the number of people aged 65 years or over is so large, that only under rather extreme assumptions [could] the relationship between the number of elderly people and the labour force...be kept almost constant...."
