Local Abstract: [PIP] This is a study on the changing patterns of female activities of 1970s and 1980s in Korea. The life table of female employees provides an effective index of the pattern of participation in the economic activities. It gives not only a measure of the average length or working life of females but also a comparison of changing patterns of female and male employees economic activities changed by educational level, fertility, age at marriage, value of children, and urbanization. The above-mentioned factors are the increasing causes of average length of working life of females. Analysis of the data shows that the average length of working life of females was decreased from 40.06 years in 1970 to 39.47 years in 1980 due to the increase of the number of females desiring to be further educated, but it was rather increased in the case of the females aged 20 and more, comparing with it in 1970. However, most of the female employees were still engaged in unskilled labor. Female employment stands at the low level of 51-55% of the males, considering it is supposed that the female employed cumulative standstill population aged 15-19 in 1970 is 100 and in 1980 is 102.2. For males in 1970 and 1980 it was 196.2 and 187.1, respectively.
