Hospital Best Practices in Nurse Recruitment and Retention.

This article presents a report, that presents findings on hospital nurse recruitment and retention techniques. The purposes of this inspection were to: describe techniques used by hospitals to attract and retain nurses and determine the extent to which nurses participate in hospital decision making through representation on hospital governing bodies and key committees. The best practice hospitals visited share common elements which may account for the success of their nurse recruitment arid retention strategies. These elements include: management commitment to nursing and nurses, strong nursing leadership, competitive salaries and benefits.
