Obstáculos comerciales y salariales a la transición nutricional en la España de comienzos del siglo xx. (Spanish)

Commercial and salary obstacles for the nutritional transition in Spain at the beginning of the 20th century. (English)

The characteristics of the internal market trading networks, the foreign trade policy and the low wage levels were some of the circumstances that determined the access to food in the Spanish cities at the beginning of the 20th century. For the impact of the trade policy, the prices in the major peninsular cities in 1909-1913 are compared with the prices of Gibraltar and with some of the main cities round the world, such as Madrid in 1925. To assess the effects of the trade problems, the prices of each Spanish city in 1909-1913 are compared with the one combined with the minimum prices of all of them. The possibilities of accessing the consumption patterns of each city in 1964-1965 are compared with the prices and wages in the years before the First World War. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Las características de las redes comerciales interiores, de las políticas de comercio exterior y los bajos niveles salariales fueron algunas de las circunstancias que condicionaron el acceso a los alimentos en las ciudades españolas de comienzos del siglo xx. Para conocer la incidencia de la política de comercio exterior se comparan los precios de las mayores ciudades peninsulares entre 1909 y 1913 con los de Gibraltar y con los de algunas de las principales ciudades de Europa, para el caso de Madrid en 1925. Para evaluar los efectos de los problemas comerciales interiores se comparan los precios de cada ciudad española en 1909-1913 con el formado por el combinado de los mínimos de todas ellas. Se analizan a su vez las posibilidades de acceder a los patrones de consumo de cada ciudad en 1964-1965 con los precios y salarios de los años anteriores a la Primera Guerra mundial.
