The article discusses the practice of culling zoo animals in Denmark where animals are euthanized as a means of population control and the corpses used for educational purposes or to feed other animals. It looks at how these policies have been criticized by those already opposed to zoos and by animal rights activists. The example of a young giraffe, known as Marius, that was euthanized then dissected and fed to lions at the Copenhagen Zoo is examined.
