    • Abstract:
The Military Junta has been ruling Argentina for two years when they invited the world to celebrate the Football World Cup in their country in 1978. Already more than a year earlier it became public that the Junta committed severe crimes against humanity to eliminate political opposition. Among the thousands of victims were men and women from many foreign countries, including Germany. International protests arose und initiatives were founded to boycott the World Cup, however FIFA and the German Football Association (DFB) were playing along with the Junta, who used the world cup to blind the international public and to cover up the cruel and ugly reality of their government. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
