    • Abstract:
Reports on the bacterium, Burkholderia sp. strain PS12 which uses 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene (Cl[sub 4]-benzene) as a growth substrate. Cloning of a 5503-bp DNA fragment from PS12 and expression in Escherichia coli; Inclusion of the tec genes coding for the alpha-subunit and beta-subunit of a terminal dioxygenase, a ferrodoxin and a reductase; Proof that dioxygenase caused dechlorination of Cl[sub 4]-benzene.
