    • Abstract:
The article discusses the politics of mourning along the U.S.-Mexico border. Topics include the increasing deaths of migrants along the border since the late 1990s, which the federal government acknowledges as unintended consequences of U.S. immigration control policies, the difficulty of identifying the identity of migrant bodies and remains due to limited funding for DNA testing, and the practice of cremation in the border. Other topics include the mourning of the nameless victims of U.S. wars, and the two types of public acknowledgement of the dead.
