The author discusses Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) and its relevance for maths education in the U.S. Topics discussed include low scores of the U.S. in maths in 2012 PISA assessment, different approaches in PISA such as self-monitoring approach and approach of students to subjects, memorizers being the lowest achievers and their high numbers in the U.S. and a new centre launched at Stanford University in Stanford, California for communication of evidence-based practices.
