The author reflects on the impact that marketing can have on communities in places such as the U.S., and it mentions the author's receipt of a box containing a library constructed from LEGO toy bricks and a nomination for the journal's first Marketer of the Year Award. Library marketing campaigns are examined, along with the efforts help the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library in North Carolina rebound following several cuts in 2008-2011.
