Processes of State building and role of historical memory in the first years of independence of Ukrainian were considered in the article. Aim of the article is an investigation of the main areas of the politics of memory for implementation tasks of state building in the first years of independence of Ukrainian. It was done by analyzing the dynamics of the memorial actions and the scientific literature and with using systematic and comparative methods. The tools of politics of memory were the national propaganda, changing school history education programs and the creation of a new memorial and symbolic space. The legitimization of the idea of independence in the social consciousness was made by forming a symbolic connection with the period of the Cossacks and the Ukrainian People’s Republic statehood. But de facto the succession of government institutions from the Soviet Union was kept. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Рассмотрены процессы государственного строительства и роль исторической памяти в первые годы независимости Украины. Целью статьи является изучение основных направлений осуществления политики памяти для реализации задач государства первых лет независимости. Это было сделано на основе анализа динамики мемориальных акций и научной литературы, с использованием системного и сравнительного методов. Инструментами политики памяти были национальная пропаганда, изменение программы школьного исторического образования и создания нового мемориально-символического пространства. Легитимация идеи независимости в общественном сознании происходила путем формирования символической связи с периодом казачества и государственностью Украинской народной республики.
