The Kerb dance as site of memory: Continuities, permanencies and transformations through two lines of analysis. (English)

This paper aims to understand the representation and the importance of Kerb dance through two analytical. The first refers to the dance represented by the gaucho artist Pedro Weingärtner, in 1892. The dance exposed on the painting presents various research elements that collaborate to understand the habits and customs of German community in the 19th century. In this case, the dance may be studied as a depicted memory, besides being a site of sociability and maintenance of Germanic culture and identity. The second line of analysis focuses on the feast existing today, especially in the municipalities in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul state. The aim is to understand the elements of permanence and those which have undergone some transformation over the past few years of the Kerb dances, also paying attention to the changes in the function of the dance to communities in Rio Grande do Sul. Este trabalho pretende compreender a representação e a importância do baile do Kerb por intermédio de dois eixos analíticos. O primeiro refere-se ao baile representado pelo artista gaúcho Pedro Weingärtner, em 1892. O baile exposto nas telas apresenta diversos elementos de investigação que colaboram para compreender hábitos e costumes da comunidade teuta no século XIX. Nesse caso, o baile pode ser estudado como uma memória retratada, além de ser um espaço de sociabilidade e de manutenção da cultura e da identidade germânica. O segundo eixo de análise aborda a festa do Kerb existente nos dias atuais, especialmente nos municípios do interior do Rio Grande do Sul. Busca-se o entendimento dos elementos de permanência, e aqueles que passaram por alguma transformação ao longo dos últimos anos nos bailes do Kerb, atentando, também, para as mudanças na função do baile para as comunidades, no Rio Grande do Sul.
