- Abstract:
The authors reflect on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and repeated concussions among at-risk U.S. veterans. It comments that repeated concussions is the root cause of CTE and is prevalent among veterans as traumatic brain injuries (TBI). It talks about an increase in concussions and TBI as a result of increased use of improvised explosive devices, and mentions research suggests a possible connection between neurodegeneration such as CTE and multiple concussions.
