- Abstract:
The article discusses why the U.S. occupation of Japan between 1945 to 1952 succeeded while it's occupation of Iraq failed. Topics discussed include Operation Iraqi Freedom, most of Japanese successes being fundamentally Japanese in origin and not due to U.S. occupation, and the method of leadership during both the occupations being radically different with the military involved in the Japanese occupation while the Iraq occupation was handled by the Coalition Provisional Authority.
