Auto parts: Miles to go.

The article discusses Turkey's automotive parts manufacturing industry in 2003. The country is a major participant in the global market for car parts. Since 1996 auto parts exports have risen by more than 12% annually as international manufacturers entered into joint ventures with Turkish partners. More than 150 foreign auto parts suppliers had partnerships in Turkey in 2000. The sector now accounts for more than 5% of Turkish exports. Several international car manufacturers use their Turkish plants as a base for exports, particularly European markets.
