      The article looks at the poetic confession and political and religious affiliation of French poet Jean-Baptiste Chassignet by examining the printing and publication of his books of poetry from 1592 to 1613. Several of his works are referenced including "Œuvres sacrez," "Le Mespris de la vie et consolation contre la mort," and "Paraphrases sur les douze petis prophetes." The control of the printing industry and censorship and the religious policy of archdukes Albert and Isabelle d'Autriche are also mentioned.
