- Abstract:
The article presents a study published in the April 22, 2016 issue of "Science," whish showed that the variants of one gene had a significant effect on the changes in beak size of the bird specie called Darwin's finches after a drought. The report by evolutionary geneticist Leif Anderson and colleagues showed that the genetic variants of the HMGA2 gene determine the beak size in the birds. Also cited are the effect of the gene ALXI on the shape of the beaks.
