    • Abstract:
The article explores the frequent reference by poet Giacomo Leopardi to the Catholic calendar of feasts in his "Zibaldone," the philosophical and philological commentary that begun in the summer of 1817. Topics covered include his attempt to subvert the sclerotic mental framework of his society, his antithetical and inspired reflection in the entry for All Soul's Day and his response to the commemoration of Good Friday.
