      The article overviews the factors contributing to the declining numbers of labor unions and the rise of inequality among workers in the U.S. Particular focus is given into impacts of the Landrum-Griffen Act of 1959 towards the controls on the management and internal affairs of trade unions in the country. It also notes the factors of a good society which include a democratic government, fair distribution of income and democratic unions.
