      An interview with healthcare interior designer Jain Malkin in 2015 is presented. When asked on factors that shape evidence-based design (EBD) trends in healthcare, she replies that EBD is not trend-oriented and is rather a research/design framework for new or existing facilities. Malkin states that EBD is both an industry standard and a best practice as safety risks are assessed. She notes that an EBD agenda considers long-term operating costs even if it has a short payback time.
