- Abstract:
The article looks at politics and government in Burma, or Myanmar, in the aftermath of the country's 2015 election, in which the National League for Democracy political party lead by democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi won a strong majority. Topics include the country's long rule by military dictatorship and provisions of its 2008 constitution, including a powerful unelected body, the National Defence and Security Council. Privatization and crony capitalism are also discussed.
