    • Abstract:
The article discusses a study that compared measured venous carbon dioxide and calculated arterial bicarbonates based on the PACO2 and PaO2 values of obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS). It is said that bicarbonate is being seen as a promising candidate for OHS diagnosis. The study found a close relationship between venous carbon dioxide and calculated arterial bicarbonate concentrations in hypercapnic hypoxemic patients and all other patients in the study.
