    • Abstract:
The article looks at a report which appeared on the website of the journal "Science" suggesting that plants use the horomone salicylic acid to select which bacteria colonize their roots. The researchers studied the weed Arabidopsis thallana and discovered that it uses salicylic acid to attract Actinobacteria and Firmicutes bacteria and deter Acidobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Verrumicrobia. According to the author, the bacteria plants attract may encourage plant health and growth.
