In this article, the author examines how many women are imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. Particular focus is given to efforts being made to help the wrongfully imprisoned by the lawyers Karen Daniel and Judy Royal, who work at the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University Law School. Additional topics discussed include Kristine Bunch, a woman wrongfully imprisoned in 1995, DNA evidence and information on how many female prisoners have been exonerated in the U.S. since 1989.
