The article discusses the status of order and the rule of law in Myanmar, or Burma, within the context of Burmese politics. An overview of Burmese public institutions, including in regard to the alleged lack of the rule of law within them, is provided. An overview of justice administration in Burma, including the Burmese police's assaulting of a farmer imprisoned for protesting confiscated land, the jailing of political prisoners and the relationship between Burmese courts and the state, is provided.
